Okay, finally a horror movie for the scariest month of the year. There is someone inside your house (October 6)

This is a 10-episode limited series about a young mother who takes a job as a housekeeper to get out of an abusive relationship and finds herself facing new, unexpected challenges. This one sounds like the kind of show designed to pull the sensitive strings. It is almost a one-man show in which a cop works alone to answer emergency calls as Los Angeles descends into incendiary chaos. The Guilty (October 1)īased on the Dutch original from 2018, the guilty stars Jake Gyllenhaal and a pretty exceptional supporting cast, though Gyllenhaal is the only star of the movie you actually see. Robert Rodriguez fans can look forward to Desperado and Once upon a time in Mexico. Kevin Costner fans will be happy to hear that the two Water world and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves also come to the streaming service on the 1st. Many, many great movies are joining Netflix on the 1st. Other movies landing 1st include classic romance Ghost (fit for Halloween), the historical epic Gladiator, the biopic Malcolm X Malxolm X and the wonderful violence Léon: The Professional, Just to name a few. We just reviewed this a few weeks ago and it holds up incredibly well, remains both deeply embarrassing and hilarious at the same time, and it’s one of Nicholson’s best performances. It’s the perfect movie about how even very toxic people can seek a little redemption and something really interesting to watch in the age of ‘cancellation culture’. Some of them that I had never heard of before compiling this list. October also means a whole new roster of movies, TV shows and Netflix Originals headed to the streaming giant. The leaves change, the kids (and many adults) don spooky costumes, and we are all overwhelmed by a weird urge for everything pumpkin. For my part, I welcome this new season with open arms.
